Work progressing well on Lake Road four-laning

12 November 2012

Work on widening Lake Road to four-laning to improve safety and reduce congestion is progressing well.

The two new bridges have beams placed, and finishing work will now be completed, including handrail installation and surfacing.

Work is taking place in the completed median islands and berms including top soiling, signage and street lights. The first section of new street lighting will be up and running in the next week.

Service ducts and water mains are being installed between the roundabout and Koutu corner, major stormwater works has started on both sides of the bridge, and pavement work along the frontage of Kuirau Park and between the bridge and Bennetts Road is now fully underway.

Over the coming months retaining walls will be completed between the roundabout and Koutu corner in preparation for the widening of the road.

Drainage will begin between the roundabout and Koutu corner, along with the services installations currently in progress.
