Electronic Imaging
Digitising 40,000 property files
A two-year $1.47 million project to convert Rotorua District property files to electronic digital format is underway. Electronic imaging of more than 40,000 property files, once completed, will improve customer service and enable more timely responses.
It will also safeguard the council’s files from deterioration or possible loss from some future disaster.
Three-days notice required for viewing files
While the two year scanning project is taking place, it will take three days for a requested file to be returned from Wellington (where it will be awaiting scanning) to the council for a customer to view.
Over the course of the project more and more completed scanned files will progressively be returned electronically to the council.
When a file request is received our customer advisors will be able to check whether that file has already been returned and is available for immediate viewing.
