Commercial Land Use
The Rotorua District Plan contains rules relevant to commercial land use
A building must not exceed the following standards

Parking and manoeuvring
Shall comply with the provisions of Appendix F in the Rotorua District Plan.
Noise
Shall comply with the provisions of Appendix K in the Rotorua District Plan.
Signs
Size shall be no more than 1.2 m2 for every metre of building frontage up to a maximum of 25m2 per site.
Verandahs
- Any commercial building within 5 metres of a road must have a verandah which
- abuts any adjoining verandahs
- is more than 2.9 metres above the level of the pavement
- is waterproof
- is built to a point 450mm on the building side of the kerb.
The ceiling of the verandah must be lined and any glazing must meet the relevant provisions of the Building Act 1991.
Landscaping
Shall comply with Rule 8.2.10 in the Rotorua District Plan.
