The award-winning Rotorua Museum is a department of Rotorua District Council.
The museum acts as guardian of local treasures and provides free educational opportunities for students. Visitors can enjoy a range of permanent exhibitions, as well as a comprehensive programme of art exhibitions, touring shows and events.
The Museum attracts more than 100 000 visitors each year.

Open Daily (except Christmas Day)
Summer: 9.00am - 8.00pm
(Occasionally during summer the museum will close at 6pm for private functions)
Winter: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Entry fee
Entry to the Museum is free for Rotorua District residents. Bring identification to show that you are local (for example, a rates account).
Non-Resident charges
Admission prices (valid to 31 July 2012):
- Adult: $18.00
- Child (5-18yrs): $7.00
- Under 5s: free
- Small family (1 adult & up to 3 children): $23
- Large family (2 adults & up to 3 children): $40

- Taonga Maori - spiritually and historically significant treasures of Te Arawa
- Fine Arts - important early graphic images of New Zealand, historic and contemporary artworks, sculpture, ceramics and craft
- Photographic - Over 70 000 images depicting Rotorua's rich past
- Social History - items relating to the Rotorua area since European settlement.
