What is RSS?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) allows you to identify the content you like and have it delivered directly to you.
Rotorua District now provides RSS feeds:
Why use RSS?
RSS allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the Rotorua District Council website.
RSS newsreaders
RSS content can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader" or an "aggregator". Subscribe to one of our feeds by entering the feed's link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.
Popular free online newsreaders that you can access using your browser are Bloglines or Google Reader.
Subscribing to an RSS feed
Web sites indicate the availability of an RSS feed by placing the following icon
on their pages.
There are two ways to subscribe to a feed using this icon. By clicking on the icon, you will be taken to the RSS feed page.
You can then copy the URL to your newsreader. Alternatively, if you have downloaded and installed an RSS newsreader application, you can drag and drop the RSS icon into your newsreader.
