The Rotorua Wastewater Treatment Plant has a connected population of approximately 60,000 people.  We treat an average of 18,000m3 or 18,000,000 litres of wastewater per day, however, the treatment plant design has the capability of dealing with a population of 75,000 and a daily average wastewater intake of 27,000m3 per day.  The majority of Rotorua's wastewater is generated from domestic use, with a very small percentage being from industrial use.
