That all rates (including targeted rates for water supply charged annually, but excluding targeted rates for water supply charged quarterly) will be payable in four equal instalments by the due dates, as follows:
Instalment Number 1 Due by 25 August 2008
Instalment Number 2 Due by 25 November 2008
Instalment Number 3 Due by 25 February 2009
Instalment Number 4 Due by 25 May 2009
That targeted rates for water supply charged quarterly will be payable within 30 days of invoice.
That pursuant to section 57, the following penalties will be added on unpaid rates:
- Current overdue instalments:
A charge under section 58(1)(a) of 10% on so much of an instalment that has been assessed after 1 July 2008 and remains unpaid after the due date on the day following the due date.
- Arrears (including past instalments):
i) A charge under section 58(1)(b) of 10% on so much of any rates assessed before 1 July 2008 which remain unpaid on 12 July 2008;
ii) A further charge under section 58(1)(c) of 10% on any rates to which a penalty has been added under i) if the rates remain unpaid on 12 January 2009
- Current overdue invoices for water supply charged quarterly:
A charge of 10% on so much of an invoice for metered water supply that has been assessed after 1 July 2008 and remains unpaid after due date on the first working day of the week following the due date or a later date if so specified on the invoice.
The Council will refund overpaid rates, where credit exists after allowing for the current instalment, and an application is made in writing by the ratepayer. The application needs to identify the property by its Valuation Number, specify the amount to be refunded, and provide instructions as to whether it is to be paid by cheque (please confirm the postal address), or provide your bank account number if it is to be paid by bank transfer.
