The Rotorua District Council Dog Control Bylaw 2005 (clause 11) controls the number of dogs which may be kept within urban area of the city.

Without a Kennel Licence, only  two dogs over the age of three months may be kept on one property.

When a dog owner wishes to keep more than two dogs, a Kennel Licence is required.

Should an owner be considering obtaining another dog, give the Animal Control Unit a ring.  A quick check can be carried out and if the property is suitable an initial indication can be given.

Remember, an extra dog will cost money by way of food, vet fees and registration.  Think carefully before making the commitment.
