Q. What is excessive noise?
A. Any noise under human control, which reasonably interferes with the peace, comfort and convenience of any person.
Q. How does the Noise Control Officer determine if noise is excessive?
A. The Noise Control Officer considers the effect the noise is having on the complainant, while taking into account the time of day, background noise and duration. No other noise measurements are required. i.e. a noise level meter is not needed.
Q. What happens if noise is found to be excessive?
A. A Noise Direction Notice is issued requiring the noise to be reduced to a reasonable level. This notice lasts for 72 hours. Failure to comply with the notice can result in seizure of the equipment.
