TRUST POWER AWARDS 2007

The keep Rotorua Beautiful Committee was very pleased to win the top award in the Heritage and Environment section of the awards held here in Rotorua. This adds to the other successes the committee has had in the last few years.

Winner of: New Zealand's Most Beautiful City Award 2006

Keep Rotorua Beautiful co-ordinator, Christine Findon, accepted the KNZB Beautiful City Award on behalf of Rotorua at Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s annual conference in Wellington on Saturday evening.

Rotorua’s toilets on Pukuatua St, known as the ‘Pukuatua St Palace’, have been judged first equal in Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s awards for Best Loo 2006, and Rotorua has also come runners up this year in the 2006 Trust power Spirit of Rotorua awards in the Heritage and Environment section

The Keep Rotorua Beautiful won the award in the Heritage and Environment section of the recent Trust Power Spirit of Rotorua Community award for 2005and again in 2007.
This award recognises the input volunteers have into the community.



Keep Rotorua Beautiful Committee
Comprises a group of volunteers from various Community Groups, individuals and a Council Representative.

The Committee was first established in 1967 as the National Anti-Litter Council and since 1987 has operated the programme required by Keep New Zealand Beautiful Society (INC).

Funding is obtained through grants and sponsorship.  The Rotorua District Council provides funding for a Co-ordinator, who is an essential part of the Committee.

 

 
 
Keep Rotorua Beautiful Project Involvement:
  • Educating school children in Litter and the Environment
  • Reduction of litter and removal of graffiti
  • Annual Intermediate School Speech Contest
  • Annual Business and Citizens awards (For the enhancement of our city)
  • Litter Education
  • Clean Up NZ Week: (A committee organised annual event in conjunction with community groups and schools)
  • Adopt-a-Spot Schemes
  • Keep New Zealand Beautiful National Society
  • Beautification Projects
The key to all of the activities and projects is establishing community involvement and encouraging people to share in taking responsibility for their environment.

Our Aim
To reduce litter and graffiti within our city.
We enlist the help of many organisations and groups within our city to help achieve this.
Beautification is the Key to a beautiful city.
