The footpath network in the Rotorua District encompasses approximately 412 kilometres of concrete, bitumen and cobblestone footpaths. A budget of $90,000 is spent every year to maintain these footpaths, which equates to the replacement of approximately 1,500 metres of footpath every year.
Current Council policy is to ensure that every street in the urban area has at least one footpath on one side of the street. This was achieved in the past couple of years and now RDC is adding a second footpath to streets where there is sufficient demand.
