Rotorua District Council provides housing for the elderly with 164 units located throughout the city and Ngongotaha.
To be eligible for consideration for a unit a person must be capable of living independently, be 60 years of age or over and on a permanent benefit, or 55 years or over and on an invalid benefit.
Tenants must also have assets valued at less than $35,000 to qualify for a single unit, or $50,000 for a couple. Vacancies are filled from a waiting list based on date of application.
