The Council is responsible for maintaining the Rural Address Property Identification (RAPID) system throughout the Rotorua District.
These red reflectorised numbers denote the distance in kilometres from the start of a road to the dwelling driveway, and enable emergency services to locate a house quickly. People other than emergency services now commonly use them.
The Council will issue a number and arrange for it to be affixed in a visible location by the entranceway at no cost to the owner or occupier.
