The vast majority of the unit's time is taken with Dog Control issues. The main ones being barking and roaming complaints. Other matters dealt with include dog attacks on people, other dogs and stock as well as the less serious offence of rushing.
Dog registration is also a responsibility of the unit and throughout the year a staff member is designated to concentrate exclusively on this area.
The Unit provides a 7 day coverage and staff are also on call 24 hours to deal with dog attacks and stock wandering on public roads.
