In 1990 the Council purchased the NZ Travel office from NZ Railways. This enterprise is now known as Tourism Rotorua operating 7 days a week, 365 days a year from the Tourism Rotorua Centre, Fenton Street.
This office provides a comprehensive domestic booking facility for accommodation and sightseeing.
The Tourism Rotorua Centre comprises a building historically associated with tourism, the ex-Government Tourist Bureau, the Old Post Office plus a new linking structure between the two.
Tourism Rotorua features such services as a foreign exchange facility, café, souvenir shop, shower and toilet facilities and was opened in August 1993. Tourism Rotorua is now the arrival and departure point for all coaches into and out of Rotorua.
