Rotorua District Council operates a Nursery in the Government Gardens which produces 420,000 bedding plants for display, 5,000 pot plants for display work, and 15,000 trees and shrubs annually.

 A small display house is maintained in this area for the public enjoyment. A wide variety of plants are produced with both local and imported seeds being used.
