Grants and Funding Information
- Council administers a range of funding and resources to support local community organisations and activities, including grants, loans and contracts, and subsidised accommodation in community venues
- Council manages central Government funding for arts and recreation organisations through Creative Communities and other grants programmes
- Council provides computerised funding databases at several public venues
- Council operates a rates remission policy for charitable organisations
- Council holds bi-annual funding expos. Next Expo will be held on Friday March 12th 2010.
Fundview and Breakout
You can use Fundview and Breakout at the Rotorua District Council Civic Centre, Rotorua Public Library, Mokoia Community Association, Citizens Advice Bureau, Te Whare Hauora o Ngongotaha, Te Waiariki Purea Trust and Rotorua Community Youth Centre.

Rates Remissions
Charitable organisations may be eligible to apply for rates remissions for the land they occupy. For charitable organisations that lease rather than own land, Council has a policy for grants in lieu of rate remissions.

Community Asset Development Fund
The Community Asset Development Fund is for capital works, being the purchase of a new community asset, or replacement of an existing community asset (including additions). Council will consider requests from
- community groups, cultural and arts groups, as well as sporting and recreational groups
- schools, under certain criteria
- marae that are available for public use by the community, are used for a variety of purposes, and where there is no similar facility (such as a hall) in the area.
Alternative sources of funding for marae are available through the Lotteries Grants Board's Marae Heritage and Facilities Fund.

Creative Communities
The Creative Communities Rotorua scheme is a partnership between Creative New Zealand and Council. The scheme’s main focus is to stimulate and provide support to arts and culture projects which
- increase participation in arts and culture activities
- increase the range and diversity of arts and culture activities
- increase community-wide interest in the arts.
Each year, the assessment committee conducts two funding rounds. Application forms for the main 2009 round closed on March 6 2009.
Applications for the 2009 Discretionary Round open on Monday 31 August 2009 and close on Friday 2nd October 2009.
Creative Communities Rotorua Assessment Committee
Mrs Sally O’Brien (Chairperson), Councillor Julie Calnan, Councillor Mike McViker, Mrs Marj Griffiths, Mrs Denise Sturt, Ms Jill Walker, Mrs Rene Mitchell, and Mrs Amiria Savea.
Nominations
The committee membership term is two years. Four people are elected each year so that the committee always retains some experienced members. Nominations will open on 23 November 2009 and will close on Friday January 22nd 2010.

Community Grants Scheme
This fund is available to support the work of voluntary organisations which provide community projects and services within the Rotorua District. Priority is given to projects and services which actively involve community members and are targeted to meet local needs. The scheme does not fund capital items but may fund
- administration and operational costs
- initial project costs
- training costs for paid and unpaid personnel
- public education events
The 2009 funding round has now closed and funding allocated. Application forms for the 2010 funding round open on Monday 1st March 2010 and will be available from mid February 2010.

Community Safety Projects Fund
Since the inception of the Community Safety Projects Fund in 2006, Council has distributed around $160 000 to local organistions to help run programmes for crime reduction and prevention.
Application forms are available at the public library, Citizens' Advice Bureau, Te Puni Kokiri and Council’s Customer Service Centre.
