Community Awards
The Rotorua community is enormously enriched by the volunteer efforts of many individuals and organisations who are dedicated to improving the wellbeing of our local residents. These people and groups are often unsung heroes who generously help make Rotorua a better place to live, yet they seek nothing in return other than the satisfaction of knowing they have made a real difference.
The council participates in a number of community awards programmes that acknowledge some of these community heroes and which provide an opportunity to express the community's appreciation of their valuable contributions to society. The Rotorua District Community Awards (for individual volunteers) and the TrustPower Spirit of Rotorua Awards (for volunteer organisations) are two such award programmes held annually.
These awards recognise outstanding community service, and national and international achievements by individual local people.
