The Rotorua District Youth Council (RDYC) is made up of a range of 16 young people aged 13-20 years who live in the Rotorua District.

Tell the Council what they think about certain issues.

Put forward solutions to issues that affect young people in the Rotorua District.

Share information and experiences with other young people.

Learn about Council decision making processes and how the Council works.

Attend regular monthly meetings.
- Get involved in Council stuff, including things like events, conferences, Committee meetings, projects and much more!
- Work in sub-committees or groups on issues and solutions.
- Bring opinions of other young people to Council.

Write and present submissions on issues that affect young people, such as the development of a burnout pad and Council's Draft 10 Year Plan.

How to apply for RDYC
- Applications are taken at the end of each year.
- Applicants must have a good range of youth connections in the District.
- Applicants must have skills and qualities that will benefit the Youth Council, including the ability to interact and work in a team, read documents, and discuss issues.
- The term of RDYC is usually one year, but people can re-apply for a second term.
