Management of solid waste within the Rotorua District is governed by a number of instruments i.e.:
- Policy
- Waste Management Plan
- Landfill Management Plan
- By-Laws
- Legislation
And in recent times by national initiatives i.e.:
- New Zealand Waste Strategy
- Environment Waikato Waste Strategy
- Environment Bay of Plenty Waste Strategy
The purpose of this report is to review these various areas and recommend changes in the strategy where warranted in order that a clear direction for the management of solid waste is in place.
