• To oversee the internal and external audit functions within the Rotorua District Council.
• Review of engagement letters and management reports.
• Approval of Council's Internal Audit Charter.
• Approval of the form and content of the financial statements.
• Reviewing the appropriateness of accounting policies adopted by Council.
• Having annual meetings with the External Auditors.
• Reviewing internal audit programmes and procedures.
• Obtaining assurances from auditors that internal procedures are properly applied.
