In 2004, the council adopted the current logo (pictured). This logo is the Council's corporate brand and is represented in all visual corporate productions.
 
The historic crest (armorial bearings) is now used only in a small number of formal executions (e.g. Mayor's letterhead).
 
The Rotorua District Council logo, was developed from an identified need for an overarching brand depicting the attributes of Rotorua as a desirable place to live, to work, to invest in and to visit. It presents an opportunity to optimise community ownership of a shared vision and a positive destiny. It reflects a cooperative journey towards progress - a journey to DESTINATION ROTORUA.

The concept of 'Destination Rotorua' has evolved from the established and ongoing tourism marketing brand: 'ROTORUA - feel the spirit - Manaakitanga', which continues to be used in marketing activities.
