Raffle Requirements:

Permission to hold a raffle in the Central Business District must be obtained from the Rotorua District Council. This is restricted to fundraising for community, charity, religious and sporting organisations. Here is the Raffles form (11KB) you will need to fill out. The form is in pdf format and will require Adobe Reader  to view it.

For approval to be granted a letter must be written to the City Services Manager, outlining the date, time and location. Written permission form the shop owner outside whose premises you wish to hold your raffle, must be obtained and produced to the City Services Manager.
 
The City Services Manager will then be able to suggest any modifications to your proposal to satisfy the requirements of the council.

General Conditions that must be adhered to are as follows:

  • The use of any loud-hailing or amplification equipment to solicit sales is not permitted.
 
  • That the stall and related equipment does not impede the normal flow of pedestrians.
 
  • Emergency services must be given unrestricted right of way at all times.
 
  •  At all times during the operation a notice is displayed stating your organisation and purpose of the fundraising.
 
  •  All equipment and litter associated with your operation must be removed at the end of each session.
 
  • That you comply with any directions given by the Councils General Inspectors and /or the City Services Manager
 
  •  That all Internal Affairs requirements are met in relation to raffle sales.
